I could see that it was a clean weld after a quick light etch.
I forged out the blank. I tried not to forge it to much to shape because I wanted to cut into the pattern as much as I could. The pattern spread out when I hammered out the bevels but I was happy with the way it looked after grinding into it. The blade is a little over 4 inches long. The tang ended up being longer than I wanted, lesson learned. You can kinda make out the twisted billet through the entire knife including the tang.
